Deutsche Börse completes acquisition of a majority stake in Crypto Finance

Deutsche Börse has completed the takeover of a majority stake in Crypto Finance, a FINMA-regulated provider for trading, custody and investment in digital assets. The agreement was signed in June and concluded on December 15, 2021.

The acquisition lays the foundation for building an independent, transparent and highly scalable ecosystem for digital assets under European regulation.

In this way, Deutsche Börse enables its partners and customers direct and easy access to services in the field of digital assets, including post-trade services. Existing customers and new market participants are provided with a wide range of digital assets via their established platforms. In addition, synergies should be used to optimize processes and systems.

As part of Deutsche Börse, Crypto Finance will have access to Deutsche Börse’s customer and infrastructure network. At the same time, Crypto Finance will use Deutsche Börse’s strong capital base to further expand the team, implement structural growth plans and strategically expand the product and service portfolio. The expansion in Europe with a focus on Germany and in Asia with a focus on Singapore is to be driven forward intensively and the customer base is to be expanded significantly.
